Instructor Bios:

Kyung-Ju Choi is CTO of Clean and Science in Rolling Meadows, IL.  He was an adjunct professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Louisville from 1996 – 2011, and in the Tennessee Tech University from 1986 to 1995.  He was with AAF (American Air Filters), International as Director of Global Media Development from 1995 to Oct. 2008.  He was Senior Staff Scientist with Cummins Filtration from 1986 – 1995.  He has been actively involved in the American Filtration and Separations Society (AFS), Biber Society, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO).  He was Chairman of AFS for 2010 – 2011.  He was the 2011 and 2012 AFS Annual Conference Chair and currently serves on the Board of Directors.  He was the first recipient of Senior Scientist Award on March 15, 2000, the recipient of Frank Tiller Awards, Lifetime of Scientific Achievement Award on March 27, 2007 and Fellow Award, superior contribution of organization and leadership tot he Society for many yearrs on June 5, 2010.  He received MS and Ph.D. in Polymer Engineering at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  Hi holds more than 120 technical publications, 43 US patents and numerous corresponding international patents.

Tim Johnson has a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Macalester College in St. Paul Minnesota. He has worked at TSI Incorporated for over 23 years and has worked with the Automated Filter Tester products for over 12 years. He is currently Senior Application Engineer in the Particle Instruments product group. He is responsible for the product applications using automated filter test equipment and components used in filter testing applications. He is a member of the American Filtration and Separation Society (AFS) board of directors. He is actively involved in the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), where he has participated in filtration standards development. He is a member of ISO/TC94/SC15 committee working on an international standard for respirators.

Kenneth Rubow is Vice President for Filtration and Advanced Media Science at Mott Corporation. He received his BS, MS and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota. Prior to joining Mott in 1995, he worked at the University of Minnesota in increasingly responsible positions for 22 years. He also served as a consultant for more than 30 companies and government agencies in the areas of particle technology and particulate filtration.
